Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted to cover the front side of teeth to improve the overall appearance of teeth. They are very strong and long lasting, and look exactly like natural teeth. With veneers we can achieve amazing results in a very short time, making them an ideal option if you do not have the time or inclination for orthodontic treatment. Veneers can be placed to:

Tooth preparation is minimal and confined to the enamel structure. The veneer is bonded to the tooth structure with tooth-coloured resin cement. Several visits are necessary to complete treatment.
Patients should be aware that this is usually an irreversible process because it’s necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell.

The veneers themselves are very stain resistant and will not attract staining from foodstuff like natural teeth. However, we recommend patients with veneers to have regular professional cleaning to protect their investment and to ensure the lifespan remains at about 10-15 years.

Although the process to prepare and fit your new veneers can take as little as 10 days, we will spend a lot of time at your initial consultation appointments assessing your facial form and features, taking x-rays, clinical photographs and study models of your existing teeth. We then work closely with our laboratory technician in order to plan your new smile.
Often, we will create a ‘diagnostic wax-up’, which means that we are able to show you the final result in wax prior to commencing treatment. This acts as a really crucial communication tool and allows us to be very clear about your expectations and your desired result.

What are veneers made of?
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain, a strong and hardwearing material with a translucent quality just like your own tooth enamel.
Who is suitable?
As long as you have your own teeth, you may be suitable for veneers, and a consultation will allow us to assess if this is the best treatment option to improve your smile.
What are the alternatives?
If the problem is misaligned or gappy teeth, orthodontics may be a better approach for many patients, and this will be discussed with you at your consultation. Many of our patients who wish to improve their smile combine their veneers treatment with tooth whitening to enhance the end result.
What will my new smile look like?
Your dentist will take a mould of your teeth to plan the final look and they will discuss the proposed smile with you before starting treatment. This method ensures that your smile ends up exactly as both you and your dentist envisage it.
Does it hurt?
We do everything we can to make your experience as pleasant and painless as possible. The process will involve using local anaesthetic to numb the teeth and gums for some stages of treatment.
How long do they last?
Research has shown that porcelain veneers usually last from 10 to 15 years, but this will depend on how well you look after your new smile.
Is it expensive?
